Y-Chromosome DNA Tests
A Y chromosome test (Y-STR test), also known as a Y-DNA test, is used in cases where alleged male relatives wish to confirm they share a common father line.
All male children inherit their Y chromosome from their father; these children will in turn pass the Y chromosome inherited from their father to their children when they become fathers.
This means it is possible to analyse and compare the DNA samples of test participants to determine a biological relationship through the paternal family line ie uncles, cousins and brothers etc
If the males in question are related, their Y chromosome will be identical.
When can a Y chromosome test be used?
• If you need to confirm paternity but cannot get a DNA sample from the alleged father either due to death or absence. By using the Y chromosome test you are able to test any of the males on the alleged father’s side of the family to determine whether the people tested are biological relatives.
• If fraternal siblings (brothers) want to find out if they share the same father, they can start by testing for a shared Y chromosome.

2400ghs (for 2 individuals, self collection for peace of mind use only)
Non standard samples such as (nail or toothbrush) can be used for this test.

Result
